ABOUT DXWNSIDES

Hidden in the dark, melancholic hardcore band DXWNSIDES existed to exude haunting melodies and sullen riffs, drenched in hazy and ethereal soundscapes. Forever in flux between dreamy and bleak ambience and high-octane rage and aggression, the group experimented between these states of emotion and finds unique ways to blend their anger and their pain into a state of undeniable grief.Exploring themes of love, loss, and anger; whilst combining a unique blend of shoegaze and melodic hardcore, their music is all encompassed within an unending feeling of hopelessness that conveys their signature sound. The group stay hidden, drowned in darkness and saturated in shimmering reverbs in a portrayal of distance and desperation.Now amassed with over 100K streams on Spotify alone, the bands sophomore album ‘I Will Never Be Enough’ was received with glowing reception from fans and press alike. Described as “sadness soaked” by many, the record is a flowing exploration of love, loss, solitude, and addiction; with a focus on catchy hooks and dreamy soundscapes, drenched in their signature use of heavy reverb.Having played shows with established bands such as Love Is Noise, Polar, Death Goals, TheCityIsOurs & Pulse; being featured in a dedicated article in Disrupted Magazine alongside Counterparts and Microwave; having been described in articles from The Birmingham Mail as an “Act You Need to Check Out” alongside other acts such as Heriot and JAWS; DXWNSIDES proved they could hold their own alongside high level and acclaimed artists.Live, the band built upon the concept of their album, songs fading and blending together. The use of interludes and well planned transitions created a seamless and constant performance. Paired with the adaptation of synchronised lighting to create a more immersive experience, the band wanted people to get lost with them on their journey through a shared anguish.Pushing themselves, their music, and their live production; 2022 saw the band explore darker sounds and themes within their music. Dwelling within the moodier and more aggressive side of their sound, the group incorporated heavier and more experimental styles within their catalogue to create a rage filled and cathartic live experience. Unfortunately this era of their music never left the live space, as the band announced their departure on the 1st of December 2023.
